Published 11:14 am Thursday, October 29, 2026 Two “legacy car wrecks” placed in Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park were recently removed in a collaborative effort. On Wednesday, Oct. 21, Friends of the South Slopes (FOSS) teamed up with the Okanagan Forest Task Force (OFTF) to remove the two vehicles that were placed in the park when it officially established in 2001.

The two teams used specialized equipment to remove vehicles, which were a 1980s Honda Civic and a 1960s GM sedan. The Civic was pulled out of the ravine adjacent to the Myra Wetlands along Fairland Loop while the sedan was resting on its roof near Rose Lookout. “Both sites have been thoroughly cleaned up, and while a bit of future remediation may happen, we are confident all remnants of the vehicles have been completely cleared out,” stated FOSS on Facebook.

“Let’s keep our parks pristine!”
