The company’s tale will be told The story of BioWare is a tragic one. For years, it crafted some of the greatest narratives in gaming, from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic to the Dragon Age games to the stellar Mass Effect trilogy. But EA clumsily made the decision to shut them down, leaving hundreds of thousands of fans disappointed.

However, it appears several folks have a tale to tell about the company, and they’ll do so in a new documentary, according to Deadline. Shane Fennessey and Adam Scorgie, working with Canada’s Super Channel, will produce Massive Effect: The BioWare Story . It will “document how the Edmonton, Canada-based games company grew from being founded in 1995 by three medical doctors – Ray Muzyka, Greg Zeschuk and Augustine Yip – to selling 100 million copies of its role-playing games, which include Mass Effect, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Dragon Age and Baldur’s Gate .” @Deadline Akash Sherman will write and direct the production, which had actually been filming for two years before the closure of the studio was announced.

Talk about timing. All three of the founders will feature in the documentary, along with talent like The Game Awards founder Geoff Keighley and voice actor Jennifer Hale. “When the production team asked for our blessing to tell the BioWare story, we were honored and deeply moved,” BioWare co-founders Muzyka and Zeschuk explained in a statement.

“BioWare was never just about the logo or the building. It was about the stories brought to life by the amazing people on our dev teams, and the fans who defended those worlds, championed them and carried them forward. We’re proud this film honors those who made it all possible.

The best stories never really end. They live on in our memories and wait for someone to pick them up again.” We’re eager to see more of this story, especially considering the tragic end BioWare is facing. Related Articles
