Matthew Wilson 43 mins ago Featured Tech News , Software & Gaming Bungie has now outlined its full roadmap for restoring vaulted Destiny 2 content, following the announcement earlier this month that the studio intends to make the game whole again. The new update confirms exactly which campaigns and activities are included in the first phase, as well as a rough timeline for when the work will be completed.
The first pass focuses on returning the core campaign slate and associated activities. Bungie plans to restore the Red War, Forsaken, Curse of Osiris and Warmind campaigns, along with their strikes, raids and raid lairs. Menagerie will also return with reprised rewards.
Beyond this initial wave, Bungie is investigating additional content as stretch goals, including free roam destinations, seasonal activities from Sundial through to The Coil, raid weapon updates and legacy PvP maps. Some areas, such as the New Light experience and certain seasonal hubs, currently have no path to update due to technical or strategic constraints.
Bungie has also provided a timeline for the porting process. The team is currently in pre production, validating the workflow and quality bar for bringing legacy content back into the game. This stage is expected to last until January or February.
Full production will then begin, with Bungie estimating around twelve months of work to complete the porting effort. The studio notes that the volume of content involved is substantial, and progress updates will be shared as milestones are reached. Alongside the unvaulting plan, Bungie has teased broader ambitions for Destiny’s future.
The studio is working on a phased approach that includes a Destiny 2 celebration update, a Destiny legacy project intended to serve the entire series where players are today, and an unannounced initiative referenced only as redacted. Bungie has also hinted at bringing original Destiny content forward, which would be significant for PC players who never had access to the first game.
KitGuru says: Bungie’s roadmap finally gives a clear picture of how the unvaulting process will unfold. Restoring the original campaigns and raids is a major step, and the possibility of Destiny 1 content arriving in Destiny 2 will be a big moment too. Become a Patron!
