Months after Elon Musk promised that his AI tool Grok Imagine would create an entirely AI-generated, feature-length version of “ The Odyssey ,” the tech mogul has partially followed through on the claim. On Friday, the company shared the first 7-minute, AI-generated episode of the “Odyssey” series on X .

The account also credited the “creative collaboration” to Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker, both of which specialize in AI filmmaking. In July, Musk announced plans to make a “historically accurate” full-length feature version of Homer’s ancient Greek poem. He noted that his AI “The Odyssey” would be ready by the end of 2026.

“Before this year ends, Grok Imagine will make a full-length movie of The Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to the art of Homer,” he wrote, together with an AI-generated 3-minute short of “The Odyssey” posted by an X user. At the time, “Doctor Strange” and “The Black Phone” director Scott Derrickson pulled no punches and addressed Musk directly on social media to call out the absurdity of the project.

“Clearly @elonmusk doesn’t know shit about cinema & he stopped reading in his 20s,” Derrickson wrote on Musk’s social media platform, X. “His opinions on art are worthless.” While no further statement accompanied the AI-generated episode — or Musk’s original tweet about creating a “historically accurate” version of “The Odyssey” — the move comes after the tech trillionaire repeatedly criticized the film ahead of its release, especially the casting of Elliot Page as Achilles’ Ghost and Lupita Nyong’o as Helen of Troy.

Musk claimed that Nolan cast both actors to satisfy the Academy’s representation and inclusion standards for Oscar eligibility ; in March, he wrote that “Chris Nolan is an anti-White racist,” saying he cast Nyong’o only because “He wants the awards.” See the first episode of the series here.
