Hollyland has released a comprehensive Astra P1 PTZ Camera Controller tutorial that goes into detail about how to set up, connect, and operate professional PTZ cameras for multi-camera workflows. There is a comprehensive explanation of the controller’s back interfaces (power, Ethernet/PoE) and front-panel buttons, including camera selection, focus, exposure, white balance, and OSD menu controls.
They also provide instructions for adding cameras. To add additional cameras beyond the default setup, the tutorial outlines both IP Connection and Serial Control methods. With IP Connection, you connect the controller and camera to the same subnet, press “Setup,” select “Add New Device,” choose a protocol (e.g., VISCA over IP or ONVIF), and input the IP address and port.
ONVIF connections also require the camera credentials ( 2:24 ). Serial Control allows connection via physical RS232, RS422, or RS485 lines. Users can select serial protocols like VISCA, Pelco-D, or Pelco-P and configure the target camera ID address and baud rate.
Additionally, the tutorial goes into detail about camera operations and PTZ control. They also cover advanced network and system settings such as IP assigment and joystick customization. Finally, there is a section about the web interface, calibration, and how to do configuration export.
