Cannondale, the iconic U.S. brand based for more than five decades in Connecticut, is on the move. The brand’s owner, PON Holdings, is closing Cannondale’s longstanding Wilton, Connecticut office. That closure comes with expected loss of 143 jobs between December 2026 and the end of 2027.

Cannondale’s road bikes already come with Reserve wheels, which started as Santa Cruz’s in-house wheel brand. That is where PON brand Santa Cruz is located. That is also where PON brand Cervélo was re-located to. Since Cervélo’s move, its product line is more integrated with Santa Cruz’s via in-house wheel brand Reserve.

Cannondale’s statement says “Each brand will retain its own identity, models and relationship with riders.” Hartford Business Journal reports that PON notified the Connecticut Department of Labour of the closure of its offices at 1 Cannondale Way on Oct. 21. Layoff’s are expected to start on Dec.

21, 2026 and continue until the end of December in 2027. The move will end over 50 years of Cannondale history in Connecticut. Cannondale’s global headquarters will move to Woudenberg, The Netherlands, reports BRAIN, which are currently Cannondale’s European headquarters.

The R&D and engineering office already in Freiburg, Germany will now be the brand’s sole office for that function, with all related positions in Connecticut ending. That will, likely, mean continued growth for Cannondale’s high-end road bikes which continue to see success on the World Tour under several pro teams.

One of the longest-running and more successful teams on the World Cup circuit, CFR’s end was announced mid-season in what ended up being one of the team’s more successful seasons. Multiple World Cup overall titles and World Cup wins did not change the team’s fate. Instead, the Canadian CFR rider Cole Punchard has now moved to Decathlon Ford racing alongside ex-CFR teammate and double World Cup overall winner Luca Martin .

PON acquired Cannondale as part of its purchase of Canadian holdings Dorel Sports back in 2022. That included Schwinn, GT, Mongoose and several other brands. GT has since “paused” operations .

Unlike GT, this announcement should not be taken as the end of Cannondale. Cervélo has very much thrived and retained its own brand identity since coming under PON ownership and moving to California. Still, it is sad to see Cannondale’s ties to its Connecticut roots severed.
