'Life-changing' - €4.7m winning Lotto ticket sold in Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim Updated / Friday, 6 Nov 2026 18:08 There is huge excitement in Drumshanbo in Co Leitrim as Scollan's Gala celebrates the sale of a winning €4.7 million ticket. The winning quick pick ticket, worth €4,769,938, was purchased in the shop on Church St, Drumshanbo, on Wednesday - the day of the draw.
The winning numbers were 8, 11, 13, 17, 37, 45 and the bonus number was 3. Gala store owner Karol Scollan told RTÉ News that the excitement "has been through the roof," with rumours circulating about the identity of Leitrim’s newest millionaire. "The rumours will be rife.
People will wonder who got bought a new car or who painted the house new and all that. You know, it’s brilliant. "There’s a lot of names flying around and a lot of people wondering, but I don't think anyone knows who won it, but it's absolutely brilliant.
"It’s great news. You know, there's so much bad news out there. It's brilliant to have good news around the town," he said.
National Lottery spokesperson Emma Monaghan confirmed that the winner has contacted the prize claim team. "Yes, the winner has made contact ... arrangements are under way for them to claim their prize. It's important for a winner of this prize value to get legal and financial advice.
"We'll be getting ready to welcome them in our winners' room in HQ very soon, and we'll hear how they plan to celebrate and we look forward to meeting them," she said. The win in Co Leitrim brings to 37 the number of millionaires created through National Lottery games this year. It also marks the second Lotto jackpot win since game changes were introduced in September, when the number of balls were reduced from 47 to 45.
That change reduced the odds of winning the Lotto Jackpot or top prize in each draw from one in 10.7 million to one in 8.1 million. A shop in Cork sold the first winning ticket under the new changes last month.
