by Alex Billington October 21, 2026 Source: YouTube "Iris, if you were a melody... I used only the good notes." Sony Pictures has debuted a brand new re-release trailer for the holiday classic called The Holiday , one of my all-time favorite romantic comedies. Another hit from filmmaker Nancy Meters , this first premiered in December 2006 and was a box office smash back then.

But it has only become even more beloved with time as more & more people discover it and rewatch it over & over. Two women on opposite sides of the globe, Amanda Woods (Cameron Diaz) and Iris Simpkins (Kate Winslet) find themselves in a similar predicament. Desperate for a change of scenery, the two women meet on the internet and swap houses for the Christmas holiday discovering that a change of address really can change your life.

Written & directed by Nancy Meyers and starring Cameron Diaz , Jude Law , Kate Winslet , and Jack Black , The Holiday returns to theaters on December 11th for its 20th Anniversary. Also featuring Eli Wallach (as the loveliest Arthur Abbott!), Edward Burns , and Rufus Sewell . It also has a score by maestro Hans Zimmer , believe it or not.

Everything about this movie is so wholesome and lovely and delightful, it's not even that cheesy, more of an actual genuinely charming tale of people crossing paths (and falling in love). The cast is absolutely perfect - everyone in this movie just makes me feel happy. Enjoy.

Here's the new 20th Anniversary trailer (+ poster) for Nancy Meyers' classic The Holiday , on YouTube : In Nancy Meyers' The Holiday, a romantic comedy from the director of What Women Want, two women trade homes to find that a change of address can change lives. Iris (Winslet) is in love with a man who is about to marry another woman.

Across the globe, Amanda (Diaz), realizes the man she lives with has been unfaithful. Two women who have never met and live 6000 miles apart, find themselves in the exact same place. They meet online via a home exchange site & impulsively switch homes for the holiday.

Iris moves into Amanda's L.A. house in sunny California as Amanda arrives in the snow covered English countryside. Shortly after arriving at their destinations, both women find the last thing either wants or expects: a new romance. Amanda is charmed by Iris' brother Graham (Law), while Iris, with inspiration provided by legendary screenwriter Arthur (Wallach), mends her heart when she meets movie composer Miles (Black).

The Holiday is both written and directed by beloved American filmmaker Nancy Meyers , her fourth film at the time after making Something's Gotta Give (2003) and before It's Complicated (2009). Produced by Nancy Meyers & Bruce A. Block.

With cinematography by Dean Cundey, and music by Hans Zimmer. It was first released in December 2006 and it made an impressive $205M at the box office. Sony is re-releasing Meyers' The Holiday classic in US theaters again on December 11th, 2026 this winter.
