‌ The Whanganui district will get two new healthcare staff after Health New Zealand's annual calculation of the need for new staff. Photo / Getty Images Whanganui will get two more fulltime staff in a push by Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora to hire 380 additional nurses, healthcare assistants and midwifery workers over the next year.

It comes after the country’s biggest employer released its annual calculation of staff needed . Over NZNO Whanganui delegate and nurse Maura Skilton said the additional roles were “still not enough” to meet patient demand and maintain a healthy environment for staff, patients and their families.
