A Brazilian Mohamed Salah ? Liverpool appear to have found him - but he won't come cheap. Liverpool lost Mohamed Salah in the summer and completely failed to replace him.

Though, that wasn't for a lack of effort. The Reds went into the window with Yan Diomande as their top target, believing he could simply slot into the team where there was now a void. However, that developed into two major problems for Liverpool.

Firstly, he didn't want to join. Diomande picked Paris Saint-Germain before repeating the trick to reject them and pick Real Madrid. A massive move followed and the Ivorian was off the market.

Secondly, the market on the right wing was rotten. Every single move necessitated a gamble, with zero experienced, top-class options at a good age. That's ultimately why Liverpool signed Bradley Barcola - yes, he played on the wrong side but he at least ticked the right boxes.

William Gomes to save the day? A Bola reports that Liverpool's interest in William Gomes remains strong. This comes after he renewed his FC Porto contract with a €100m release clause.

The Brazilian was of some interest back in the summer but Liverpool couldn't justify a move. That was fair enough, given his age and lack of experience. But that interest will stick around for a reason.

Gomes, after all, could be the exact kind of player Liverpool need to replace Salah as their chief goalscorer. The winger boasts one of the best per-90 and one of the best per-action attacking values in our Value Adder model for a right-winger. In fact, the only other teenagers who come close to his numbers are Lamine Yamal and Diomande - players we're not sure Liverpool are signing.

Notably, that attacking value comes from being a goalscorer. Gomes isn't actually particularly creative - the area in which he massively differs from Salah - and has some of the lowest creativity numbers among his position in Portugal. But getting shots off and threatening goal as a finisher?

He's elite and at 20, should only get better and better at that. €100m is an awful lot of money and Gomes isn't particularly proven just yet. But Liverpool do want a winger who doesn't necessarily need the ball to run the attack - someone who, like Salah, can get on the end of chances and provide the final touches is the order of the day when you already boast the likes of Florian Wirtz.

So we think this is worth keeping an eye on.
