Independent Report QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said attempts to disrupt peace and normal life in the province will be thwarted, reaffirming the government’s resolve to counter militant threats through continued security and intelligence-led operations.
In a statement, Bugti praised security forces following separate operations in Quetta, Nushki and Khuzdar in which, according to provincial authorities, eight suspected militants were killed. The chief minister said the reported operations reflected the preparedness and professional capabilities of security personnel in responding to security threats.
He particularly commended the forces for preventing an attempted road blockade by armed elements in the Panjpai area of Quetta. Bugti said the timely response helped protect civilians and prevent the situation from escalating, adding that personnel involved in the operation deserved recognition for their vigilance.
He also highlighted the reported recovery of weapons and ammunition from a suspected militant hideout in Nushki, describing the seizure as an important development in efforts to disrupt militant activity. In Khuzdar, security personnel reportedly recovered around 490 kilograms of explosive material from a suspected hideout.
Bugti said the recovery was significant in preventing potential attacks and protecting lives and property. The chief minister stressed that timely intelligence gathering and targeted operations were essential to disrupting militant plans before they could pose a threat to the public.
He said the government would continue efforts to dismantle militant networks and take action against those facilitating violent activities, while reaffirming its support for security and law-enforcement agencies. Bugti also paid tribute to personnel of the Pakistan Army, security forces and law-enforcement agencies who had lost their lives or sustained injuries in the line of duty, saying their sacrifices had contributed to efforts to maintain peace and stability.
Reiterating the provincial government’s commitment to the federal government’s Azm-e-Istehkam framework, he said counterterrorism efforts would continue with determination to safeguard citizens and maintain uninterrupted public life. “Those seeking to undermine Balochistan’s peace will not succeed,” Bugti said, stressing that the government would take all necessary measures to protect the province’s security and stability.
