A week after Sean Combs ended up in the hospital from a still-unspecified head injury, he has been transferred to a new prison. Officials and reps for the Grammy-winning rapper-producer confirmed Friday that he has moved from the minimum security FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey to the less crowded FCI Allenwood in Pennsylvania.

Officially, the Bureau of Prisons has Combs still at Fort Dix, but the transfer has taken place. His current prison-release date of March 2, 2028 remains in place. The shift to Allenwood, also a minimum-security facility, occurred earlier in the day after Combs spent the past several days in solitary confinement.

Already involved in several incidents since being put behind bars last yea, Combs was revealed in a NBC News exposé earlier this month to be enjoying a life of smartphones, massages and high-priced contraband at Fort Dix. “We appreciate the Bureau of Prisons taking the safety and security of Sean and everyone involved seriously,” Combs’ spokesperson Juda Engelmayer told Deadline.

Convicted by a New York City jury of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution in July 2025 at the end of lurid and violence-detailing trial, Combs was sentenced in September 2025 to a 50-month stint with time served. During his time at Ft. Dix, he completed a drug-treatment program that saw him actually get his release moved up for a spell.

“His transfer from one low-security facility to another is an important distinction, and while we cannot speak to the [Bureau of Prisons’] specific reasons for the move, it is consistent with a decision made with safety and security in mind,” Engelmayer said. “We are grateful for the attention being given to his well-being and hope he can continue serving his time without unnecessary disruption.” While the BoP denied reports that Combs’ head injury reported earlier this week was the result of a fight with fellow inmate (and drug lord) Christopher Coke, Combs was pulled out of Fort Dix’s general population of more than 4,000 to a Special Housing Unit.

The onetime mini-mogul will be in solitary for the immediate future at Allenwood as well, sources say. Having failed to secure a pardon from his onetime cohort Donald Trump, Combs is betting on a fast-track appeal of his case getting him out before 2028. Simultaneously, he is a defendant in multiple civil suits related to sexual misconduct, as well as a possible sexual battery indictment by the Los Angeles District Attorney.

After a trial in summer 2025, the Southern District of New York’s U.S. Attorney’s Office failed to convince a Manhattan jury that Combs was guilty of racketeering conspiracy and sex-trafficking charges. If Combs had been found guilty of those charges, he could have received a life sentence.

TMZ first reported Combs’ prison transfer Friday.
