More than £2 million of investment from UK Government-backed clean energy projects has been allocated to expand clean energy alternatives across eight countries in Africa . The financing, supported by renewables company ZE-Gen will provide support for a move away from fossil fuels in Nigeria, Uganda, Mozambique, Kenya, Madagascar, Lesotho, Tanzania and Rwanda.
Backed by the government’s Ayrton Fund through the Transforming Energy Access platform, healthcare, telecommunications, food production, small businesses and community energy access will receive help in scaling clean energy solutions. In total, 10 projects have been deployed – including solar powered food storage, battery powered telecommunications and clean energy systems for hospitals.
The programme is designed to support essential services, strengthen local economies and improve resilience in off grid and grid weak communities. Copyright © 2026 Energy Live News Ltd ELN
