The experimental platform could print 5-nanometer features, but commercial readiness may be a decade away. 10/09/2026 12:36 Summary Hyper-NA extends ASML’s technology runway without creating a near-term product commitment. ASML Holding ASML , the EUV lithography equipment leader, advanced its Hyper-NA research with optics partner Zeiss, while U.S. shares traded up approximately 1% at $1,788.51 around 12:16 p.m.
ET Friday. The ambition is clear: help chipmakers squeeze smaller circuitry into future AI processors. The revenue payoff is much further out.

Engineers estimate the technology could take roughly a decade to reach commercial readiness. According to Reuters , a peer-reviewed paper puts potential feature sizes at five nanometers, more than one-third smaller than those possible with current High-NA technology. Researchers also see a path to retaining the existing EUV light source, and Zeiss can already produce mirrors with the required precision.
Those are useful building blocks. They do not settle the harder questions of production speed, economics or customer demand. ASML has started development without committing to commercial production.
The valuation leaves little room for patience: the shares sit 40.5% above the roughly $1,270 GF Value estimate, signaling that investors already price in considerable growth. Reusing existing technology could reduce some development hurdles, but Hyper-NA remains a distant opportunity.
The nearer checkpoint is October 14. Investors need evidence that current equipment demand and High-NA adoption can support earnings while the next generation stays in development.
